The Aliante master-planned community is hosting a free pumpkin painting contest today from noon to 2 p.m. The contest is open to children ages 5 to 12, and pumpkins and painting supplies for as many as 500 contestants will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Highlights will include a visit from Warner Bros.' Michigan J. Frog, who will mingle with visitors, pose for photos with children and assist with the judging. There will also be free sandwiches, beverages and prizes. The contest will be held in Aliante's 20-acre Nature Discovery Park. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Centennial Parkway, exit east to Sky Pointe Drive and turn right. Turn right at Frontage Road, then left onto Interstate 215. Exit at Aliante Parkway and go south. Dan Naef, senior vice president of North Valley Enterprises, developer of Aliante, said the day's activities promise fun for all. "We're inviting children and their parents to come out and get an early start on their Halloween activities, while enjoying all of the park's wonderful facilities," Naef said. "It's also a great opportunity for prospective home buyers to come and see how beautifully this community has developed over the past few months. Along with the finest amenities, Aliante offers a selection of homes that can suit the lifestyles and budgets of a range of buyers." Event co-sponsors are WB Las Vegas and Port Of Subs. At 1,905 acres, Aliante consists of a primary village and an age-qualified village. Combined, there will be about 7,500 homes. Nearly one-quarter of the acreage is for recreational and public uses, including an 18-hole municipal golf course, three city parks, 24 miles of trails and linear parks, and an arroyo. Builders in the primary village are D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes. Homes measure from 1,141 and 3,990 square feet and are priced from the $130,000s to the $380,000s. Del Webb is developing Sun City Aliante, the age-qualified component. It offers single-story floor plans measuring from 1,155 to 2,105 square feet. Prices start from the $170,000s to the $260,000s. To visit, go north after exiting the interstate at Aliante Parkway. Aliante is planned to include two elementary schools, a middle school and a fire station. Roughly 100 acres of commercial development is planned, including a proposed 40-acre hotel with gaming. The information gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. North Valley Enterprises is an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb Communities.
