First-time buyers tap Cortina neighborhood

First-time buyers Jason and Debbie Flynn searched for a home within their budget, and found it at Richmond American's Cortina neighborhood in the northeastern valley.

The couple chose the two-story Buena Vista plan, which contains two bedrooms and two baths on the second level, and a single-car garage. The master suite features a garden tub, and the second bedroom includes a walk-in closet. A powder room is optional, and the home is priced from the $190,000s.

"We chose Cortina over the other neighborhoods because the time frame fit into our deadlines, and lots were available when we were ready to buy," Debbie Flynn said.

Cortina and Edgewood are the two neighborhoods selling the builder's Vista collection, which consists of three homes ranging from 555 to 1,308 square feet.

"We chose this plan over the others because there is more separation of rooms." Flynn said. "The living room, dining room and kitchen feel more spacious."

The Chula Vista is another home in the collection, and measures 1,308 square feet. It features three bedrooms, a great room, kitchen nook, and a tech area that can be used as an office or converted into a half bath. Prices start from the low $220,000s.

Measuring 555 square feet is the Alta Vista, a single-story design with one bedroom, a great room and kitchen nook.

Prices start from the $120,000s.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to Lake Mead Boulevard, go east to Bonnie Lane and turn left.

The builder offers more than 30 new-home subdivisions throughout the valley. Sales offices are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Friday, when they open at noon.
