Store manager appreciates Summerlin's amenities

With a commute of less than five minutes, living close to work is just one of the things Tony Prey thoroughly enjoys about being a Summerlin resident.

"I know I've gotten spoiled living just a few short minutes from work," said Prey, manager of the Albertson's supermarket located on West Charleston Boulevard. "With a small child at home, it's comforting to know I am so close to home. The reverse is true, as well. I can get to work equally fast in case of an emergency."

Prey, his wife, Susan, and their 20-month-old son, Joshua, summarize living in Summerlin as "a walk in the park."

"We live close to the Willows Park and spend lots of time outdoors with Joshua enjoying the scenery and the trails. There's also a playground at The Gardens Park where Joshua loves to go. We often pack a picnic and have dinner while watching him play. We love Summerlin because of how its amenities allow us to enjoy time together as a family," Prey said of the community.

"I love the fact that there is so much going on this community. Almost every weekend there is something fun to do or see. It's just another reason living in Summerlin is fun for our family."

Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin has ranked as the nation's best-selling master-planned community nine of the past 10 years, according to independent surveys.

Situated along the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley, the Summerlin community is being developed in villages, each with its own park or golf course.

The community is the site of eight golf courses, more than 100 parks, nearly 105 miles of completed trails, 17 schools, several houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities, business parks, as well as a total of nearly 100 model homes.

Single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $700,000. Custom lots from one-half acre to three-quarters of an acre are priced from the high $300,000s to nearly $1 million, and predesigned custom homes are priced from $1.5 million.

Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the high $700s.

To visit the community's home finding center, travel west on Sahara Avenue, past Hualapai Way, to Town Center Drive and turn north. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara and turn north.

The center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
