Student finds Cottonwood affordable
Rick Jones, a student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, will be the first to admit he runs late. The casino worker didn't start college until he was 23 and was almost late for his own wedding. Jones said he thought he had waited too long to buy a house until visiting Chartered Homes' townhome development Cottonwood at Alexander. "I couldn't believe I could actually own a brand-new home at Cottonwood," Jones said. "Even on my student budget I can finally own my piece of the American dream." Jones said he planned to tell his co-workers about the development in the northeastern valley. "This community is a great value for my co-workers at the casino. I just would urge them not to wait any longer ... and the prices go up. They should learn from my experience," he said. The gated development features three floor plans ranging from 1,283 to 1,429 square feet. At 1,283 square feet, the Aspen plan features two bedrooms, two baths and an attached single-car garage. It is priced from $119,400. The 1,418-square-foot Birch plan features two bedrooms, a den, 2 1/2 baths and an attached two-car garage. Prices for this floor plan start from the mid-$120,000s. The 1,429-square-foot Cedar plan offers three bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and an attached two-car garage. It is priced in the high $120,000s. To visit, take Interstate 15 to Craig Road, go east to Pecos Road, go south to Alexander Road and follow the signs. The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
