Father, son purchase new home in Sun City Aliante

Steve McCourt and Jesse Perez are looking forward to enjoying the lifestyle of Del Webb's Sun City Aliante in North Las Vegas.

The father-and-son team from Huntington Park, Calif., found the desert climate and home prices too good to pass up.

"An active-adult community on a golf course, plus a recreation center and pool É what else could we want? We sold our house and were able to pay cash for this home. It really is a better lifestyle here," McCourt said.

McCourt sold his painting company to help his father recuperate after neck and back surgery. The two began to play golf as part of Perez' recovery and now golf at least twice a week.

"That will change when we move to Sun City Aliante. I plan to golf at least three or four times a week then," McCourt said.

McCourt pointed out that the move provided them with the opportunity to enjoy each other's company and a less stressful lifestyle.

"My dad lived in the same home for 55 years. He had some rental properties that were stressful, and the general area was congested. At Sun City Aliante, he can meet people and spend time doing things he enjoys, like golfing," he said.

Now renting a home in the community just blocks away from their new residence, McCourt said he is looking forward to meeting his neighbors.

"Everyone here waves to each other and says hello. We are really looking forward to the social opportunities that Sun City Aliante offers. We're planning to get involved and make new friends," he said.

McCourt and Perez purchased a Sage model, a 1,239-square-foot home with three bedrooms, two baths, a living room, dining room and covered patio.

"This home was perfect for us. Dad and I each have our own bedroom and bathroom, plus we have a room for guests and our computer. It is the perfect home for us," McCourt said.

Sun City Aliante is the age-qualified component of the Aliante master-planned community. It is being built around an 18-hole public golf course. Amenities include a recreation center with tennis and bocce courts, swimming pool, fitness center, and club and hobby rooms.

Homes are priced from the low $180,000s to the mid-$260,000s.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Centennial Parkway, exit east to Sky Pointe Drive and turn right. Turn right at Frontage Road, then left onto Interstate 215. Exit at Aliante Parkway and go north.

The sales office and model park are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
