Company employees choose Avellino Estates

When Julie Heagerty and Robert Everhart began working for Richmond American Homes, little did they know they would one day marry.

Heagerty, a marketing manager, and Everhart, a construction superintendent, soon realized they needed more room to accommodate the entire family, which consisted of Heagerty's two sons, Joel and Chad, and Everhart's children, Lindsay and Erika.

Shortly after their marriage in April, they purchased a home at Avellino Estates, a neighborhood built by their employer.

"When it came time for us to consider moving, it was only natural for us to consider all the choices that Richmond American has to offer," Everhart said. "Working for the builder, we are both very familiar with Richmond's company philosophy. After all, we live that philosophy every day. And after looking at the Richmond American Home communities located all across the valley, we both agreed that Avellino Estates was the perfect choice for us."

The neighborhood is located in the northwestern valley, not far from their workplace. It features three two-story plans, ranging from 2,314 to 2,718 square feet, before room options. The plans offer four or five bedrooms plus three-car garages.

Prices start from $189,990.

"The home we selected, the 2,314-square-foot Tuscany plan, not only fit our needs for additional bedrooms for our combined families -- but we loved the design, and most of all -- the price," Heagerty said. "Plus, it even allows us room to accommodate my eldest son, Joel, who is now in college. Since he is attending two different campuses, he spends a couple of days each week with us."

The basic designs can be altered to fit a variety of needs. Homes can offer as many as seven bedrooms, increasing the size to as large as 3,072 square feet. Other options include a home office, game room or home theater.

"The floor plan of the Tuscany model was just perfect for us. And since Robert is one of Richmond American's job site superintendents, we also had firsthand knowledge of the quality of homes that Richmond builds," Heagerty said.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Ann Road, head east to Torrey Pines Drive then go south following the signs.

The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Monday, when it opens at noon.

Richmond American has 16 active subdivisions throughout the valley priced from the low $100,000s to more than $300,000.

It is part of MDC Holdings Inc.
