MacDonald Highlands launches `featured builders' program

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

Recognizing the need for companies that can design and build homes on varied terrain, MacDonald Highlands has created a featured builder program.

The guard-gated community in Henderson features varying topography among its many neighborhoods, offering custom-home lots ranging from flat, golf course sites to hillside parcels 2,700 feet above sea level.

"We are developing one of the most exceptional places to live in the Las Vegas Valley and we would like to see home designs that enhance our hillsides. Buyers have purchased home sites where they can create extraordinary estates using the land to its best advantage to craft indoor-outdoor living areas and to capture our unparalleled views," developer Rich MacDonald said. "One of the most important decisions our buyers can make is deciding on a builder."

While owners may still use any builder they choose, the community's featured builders "were chosen for their experience, attention to detail, and the quality of craftsmanship. Each one of them has already built magnificent residences within our community," MacDonald said.

Homes throughout the community feature "desert elegance" architecture and incorporate stone accents, overhangs, curved walls, courtyards and casitas. MacDonald said the intent is for the residences to blend into the surrounding mountains and DragonRidge Country Club.

Five neighborhoods under development offer lots ranging from one-half acre to more than 5 1/2 acres. Prices start at $795,000 to more than $3.5 million.

The country club is central to the community. In addition to the private golf course, it features a clubhouse with formal and informal dining, a pro shop, fitness center and swimming pools. Social membership is included with each purchase, upon application approval.

In addition, there are three neighborhood parks encompassing about 10 acres. They offer tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, play areas and picnic facilities. Also planned are five miles of fitness trails leading throughout the community and into the mountains.

To visit the information center at 1730 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, Suite 100, take Interstate 215 to Valle Verde Drive and go south to the northwest corner of Valle Verde and Horizon Ridge. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
