KB turns home upside down

KB Home has given its southwestern designs an East Coast kick that has turned one of its floor plans upside down.

The design features the main living space upstairs and the secondary bedrooms on the ground floor. Often referred to as an "upside down house," the entry to this home is located at a landing midway between the two floors.

"It's something unique to the area. Most home shoppers in the valley are accustomed to seeing a more western layout. We're happy to offer them something different," said Leah Bryant, president of KB Home's Las Vegas division.

The ground floor includes three bedrooms and a bonus room, along with one bath, a laundry room and two-car garage. The top floor consists of the kitchen, dining room and great room, as well as the master bedroom with bath. The design measures 2,312 square feet and is available at three of the builder's neighborhoods: Iron Mountain Ranch and Goldrush in the northwestern valley, and Tierra Linda in the southeast area.

Called the Bandana in Iron Mountain Ranch's Mesa series, the upside down house starts in the $170,000s. At Goldrush, the Overlander starts in the $180,000s; and in Tierra Linda's Pueblo series, Cantabria starts in the high $180,000s.

To visit Iron Mountain Ranch, take U.S. Highway 95 to Ann Road, head east to Jones Boulevard, and then go north past Farm Road.

To visit Goldrush, take U.S. Highway 95 to Cheyenne Avenue, head west and turn north on Durango Drive. Go to Alexander Road and go east. Or, take Interstate 215 to the Cheyenne exit, head east to Durango Drive, go north to Alexander Road and go east.

Models at both neighborhoods are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Friday, when they open at 11 a.m.

To visit Tierra Linda, take Interstate 15 to the Henderson/Lake Mead exit, head east to Las Vegas Boulevard and proceed north. At Barbara Lane, turn west and then turn right at Haven Street. Models are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily except Friday, when they open at 11 a.m.

Through its Homebuyers Club and Home Finding Center, the builder offers free financial advice and help locating homes at its more than 20 neighborhoods valleywide.
