Anthem Country Club pleases ex-Californians
John and Stacey Thompson are happy to be living at Anthem Country Club, part of Del Webb's Anthem master plan in Henderson. "We love the lifestyle and amenities here at Anthem Country Club. It's like being on vacation every day," John Thompson said. The two moved to the gated community in March from Orange County, Calif., after Thompson's company expanded into Southern Nevada. "What drew me to Del Webb is its attention to craftsmanship and detail. And, we were able to tailor our home to our own tastes with interior options such as flooring and cabinetry," he said. The Thompsons purchased a Sonata model with an optional casita. "The casita is wonderful, and so versatile. You can make it into a home office, gym, arts and crafts studio, or a room for a teenager. In our case, we designed a guest cottage with a tropical theme. Plus, the casita creates a wonderful courtyard in front of the house," Thompson said. "It's very serene and peaceful here," Stacey Thompson said. "Driving through the beautiful entry gates after work is soothing. I love the convenience of the fitness center and everyone we've met is so happy." In fact, they were so happy with their purchase that they bought a second home as an investment. Buying opportunities are limited. "There are only 18 inventory homes remaining. Two of those are available for move-in by the holidays," senior sales manager Jeb Koury said. Homes are priced from the high $400,000s to more than $1 million. Included with each purchase is social membership to the country club, which features a 3,700-square-foot athletic facility with three swimming pools, cardiovascular equipment, aerobics, basketball, volleyball and tennis facilities, and a full-service salon. Central to the community is a 7,300-yard, par-72 championship golf course. Equity golf membership is optional. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, about two miles past St. Rose Parkway to the sales center. It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
