Terra West to manage Anthem Country Club association

Anthem Country Club's board of directors has selected Terra West Property Management to manage its homeowner association.

The country club, part of Del Webb's Anthem master plan in Henderson, is a guard-gated community that will have 1,648 homes upon completion. Nearing sell out, the builder recently gave governance of the association to homeowners.

Terra West began managing the property Oct. 1. The company was selected after a three-month search.

Using information from the Community Associations Institute, a nonprofit alliance providing education and resources to homeowners in community associations, the search committee sent out proposals to 10 management firms, providing a description of the community and outlining its basic needs. Then, the committee formed a list of questions, began interviews and toured the companies' facilities.

"We learned a lot in the first round," committee chairman Bill Brims said.

Next, Brims said the committee formed a second set of questions for the finalists.

"We wanted to identify their shortcomings and their strengths," he said.

Ultimately, the search committee recommended the board of directors meet with two finalists.

"They conducted a very thorough search process and we are very pleased the board ultimately chose us as their management company," said Deborah Ogilvie Jones, president of Terra West.

Don Higdon, a certified community association manager in Nevada and Florida with 12 years of experience, is managing the community.

"Overall, it's going very well. We are learning a lot with Don and a lot from Don," said Jim Armel, president of the Anthem Country Club Community Association.

Terra West Property Management's community association division manages 160 associations consisting of more than 47,000 homes, while its residential leasing division manages more than 1,000 rental properties.
