Center staff helps Siena residents maintain healthy lifestyle
With a little encouragement from fitness manager Kevin Pitt and his staff, residents of the Siena age-qualified community have a lot of help in keeping fit this holiday season. "Here at the Siena health and fitness center, our goal is to not only provide a variety of activities and classes that are fresh and fun, but to also provide instruction and encouragement that help our residents be more confident and comfortable with the equipment they are using and the classes they are participating in," Pitt said. Pitt, a certified health and fitness instructor, schedules a series of classes including aerobics, water fitness, yoga, and equipment-based programs to familiarize residents with their workout options. The community's 15,900-square-foot fitness center houses cardiovascular, weight-training equipment and exercise rooms. "We really factor in resident requests when it comes to adding new fitness classes to our rotation," Pitt said. In addition to the regular classes, special seminars throughout the year keep residents informed of various health and fitness topics. "In December we have an `Arthritis Holiday Workshop' planned, in addition to an `Ask The Doctor' session and a `Back To Basics' class that will discuss lower-back pain. We are also planning on offering a diet and exercise class in January to help people get back on track after the holidays," Pitt said. In addition, personal trainers are available to help design and implement exercise programs. The fitness center also features a 25-meter indoor pool, spa, windows overlooking the golf course, outdoor resort-style pool and spa, and lighted tennis and bocce courts. There is also a beauty salon and a day spa offering a variety of therapeutic massages, sports therapy, reflexology and natural body treatments. Siena, located on the southwestern edge of the Summerlin master plan, is a development of Sunrise Colony Co. Central to the 665-acre community is the 18-hole Siena Golf Club. The daily-fee course is open to all ages, however, residents receive special rates and preferred tee times. The course is complemented by a clubhouse, which has a pro shop and restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. Central to the development is a community center that serves as a venue for social activities, classes and organizations. It offers a ballroom, computer lab, arts and crafts facilities, a music room, game rooms, a business center, private meetings rooms, a library and offices for the activities staff. With the community nearing closeout, homes are priced from the $300,000s to the $840,000s, plus home-site premiums. Ranging from 1,040 to about 3,000 square feet, each plan in the six Italian-themed collections offers a range of upgrades and options. The developer offers a promotion of $15,000 to $30,000 in design studio credits with the purchase of select new homes. To visit, take Flamingo Road or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive, go south to Siena Monte Avenue and turn left. The sales office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
