'Tis the season at North Valley's Aliante

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

The public is invited to celebrate the holiday season today at Aliante, as the master-planned community hosts its second annual Home "Sweet" Home event. On tap are a variety of free holiday-themed sweets, savory foods and beverages, and performances by carolers.

The celebration is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. at the community's information center, as well as at 12 new-home neighborhoods.

In addition, those who arrive at noon will be among the first to greet a special visitor who will camp near the lake at Nature Discovery Park throughout the holidays. Representatives of the community's developer, North Valley Enterprises, have declined to identify the creature, but said it is about 40 feet long, has a waggly tail and will wear a Santa hat.

Kimiko Peterson, community marketing manager, said the event will bring holiday cheer to everyone who attends.

"We're inviting Southern Nevada to gather their families and friends and sample `the sweet life of Aliante,'" she said. "Along with enjoying all of the free holiday goodies, visitors can also stay and view the stunning holiday lights and decorations, while experiencing the hometown feeling that is so special to Aliante."

To attend, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit, proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit and go south.

Aliante encompasses 1,905 acres, and consists of an all-ages village and an age-qualified village, Sun City Aliante. Collectively, they will have as many as 7,500 homes.

Builders are Astoria Homes, Del Webb, D.R. Horton, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage, Pardee Homes, Pulte Homes and US Home.

Residences are priced from the high $100,000s to the high $600,000s.

About one-fourth of the community is designated for recreational and public purposes including the municipal Aliante Golf Club, the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, two additional city parks, more than 20 miles of trails, and an arroyo.

Two elementary schools, one of which will open in spring 2005, and a middle school are planned.

About 100 acres are allocated for commercial development, including business and retail centers, restaurants and a 40-acre resort with gaming.

The information center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
