Retired couple nest and relax at Sun City Aliante

DCF 1.0

Allan and Iris Bergman relocated to Southern Nevada from Rockland County, N.Y., after purchasing a home in Sun City Aliante, an age-qualified community within Aliante, a North Las Vegas master-planned community.

"We'd been visiting Southern Nevada since the early 1970s and thought it would make a nice retirement destination," said Allan, who retired last year after working 371/2 years for the New York State Supreme Court. "Coincidentally, our daughter was living in Southern Nevada, which was another reason we wanted to be here."

The Bergmans chose the Laurel design. The single-story home features two bedrooms, two baths, den, great room, open kitchen with an eating nook in 1,576 square feet. The home is also available with a detached casita.

Allan said he and his wife, Iris, are enjoying the many opportunities for recreation and socializing found in the community

"In my case, I am using the exercise facilities, swimming pool and spa on a near-daily basis," he said.

"We have also enjoyed meeting our fellow homeowners, who are very warm and friendly people."

Developed by North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb, Aliante encompasses more than 1,900 acres. Home builders include Astoria, Del Webb, D.R. Horton, KB, Lennar, Pardee and Pulte.

Homes are priced from the high $100,000s to the low $700,000s.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Interstate 215 Las Vegas Beltway and exit east. Make a right on Sky Pointe Drive, a right on Frontage Road, and then a left onto the Beltway. Head east to the Aliante Parkway exit, then go south.

The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
