Red Rock Country Club members find treasures
Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Red Rock Country Club members and their guests enjoyed a special night of shopping, featuring some of the newest designs from top jewelry designers. Among those viewing the pieces of fine jewelry showcased in the community's sports club were resident Merle Wilson and her guest, Dorothy Edgin. "We are both fans of Yurman and Hardy, so we didn't want to miss this event," said Wilson, who lives just off the 10th green at Red Rock Country Club. "Each morning, when I look out onto the golf course and the beautiful mountains nearby, I am thankful to live in such a wonderful place." The jewelry showcase, presented by a major department store, featured pieces by Yurman and Hardy, Lagos, Hermes, and Michael Dawkins, and a colorful assortment of Pashmina scarves. Country club resident Estelle Corrigan was joined by a group of friends at the event, which also featured hors d'oeuvres, spirits, a coffee/dessert bar and jazz band. "Red Rock does such a wonderful job planning events for their members and guests," Corrigan said. The country club is located in Summerlin and adjacent to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The 8,000-square-foot sports club has health and fitness equipment, saunas, steam rooms, an aerobics studio, massage therapy rooms, locker rooms, and a supervised children's play center. The club also serves as the entrance to the community's aquatic center, which features a family pool, lap pool, splash and spray mini-park, spa, and an outdoor grill. The tennis center offers nine hard-surface courts, including a stadium court. A 44,000-square-foot main clubhouse, scheduled for completion in January, will feature a golf shop, locker rooms, a steam room, lounge, media center and restaurants. Upon completion, the guard-gated community will comprise about 1,100 homes and two Arnold Palmer-designed golf courses. The one- and two-story homes range from 2,100 to more than 8,000 square feet with as many as six bedrooms and a four-car garage. Prices range from the $280,000s to more than $2 million, To visit, take Sahara Avenue west, past Town Center Drive, and follow the signs. Models are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunrise Colony Co. is also developing the age-qualified community of Siena in Summerlin.
