Janet Darwin was not necessarily looking for a new home earlier this year when her son told her about Boca Raton Condominiums, a $400 million development south of the Strip. The retired school teacher had just moved to Las Vegas in December 2004 to be closer to her grandson. Spending years as a Navy wife and traveling to many countries, Darwin was ready to stay in her current home for awhile.
However, once she heard about the amenities the mid-rise project had to offer, she knew it was a perfect match and purchased a Casita model.

She notes with delight her favorite amenity: the swimming pool with a beach-style entry.
"I baby-sit a lot, but also enjoy swimming, walking, aerobics and reading," she said.
Darwin also enjoys genealogy and used her military travels to visit the countries of her ancestors, in addition to finding family links to Charles Darwin.
Plans for the guard-gated community call for 15 acres of lush landscaping, swimming pools, pedestrian trails and fitness centers, in addition to a shuttle service to stops along the Strip and the airport.
Prices start from the $300,000s to more than $1 million.
Construction continues on the first two buildings.
The sales office, located at 2475 Serene Ave. near Las Vegas Boulevard, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The studio features a model of the Casita floor plan.
