Open land makes life a dream at Promontory
Living in Promontory, a custom neighborhood in The Ridges village, has been a dream for Shannon and Rick Neiswonger because of the area's peaceful beauty and out-of-the-way location. The Ridges, part of the Summerlin master-planned community, is a luxury development built around a golf course. For the Neiswonger's 10-year-old son, Ryan, living in the community is a dream because of the wild burros in the foothills that are visible from the family's front yard, as well as the opportunity to hike and play in the undeveloped areas nearby. Shannon Neiswonger said they love to hike in the foothills west of the community. "We like being so close to nature and we love going on long family walks," she said. "In fact, my parents, Ryan's grandparents, live in Red Rock Country Club adjacent to The Ridges, and we often hike through the hills to their home. We love the rural, yet sophisticated feel of The Ridges." She credits the community's family orientation for getting them to move to the neighborhood. "We previously lived in Canyon Crest," Neiswonger said. "We appreciate all the activities, parks, sports amenities and other facilities that make Summerlin so family-friendly. We plan to stay here a long time." Shannon Neiswonger is one of several residents featured in community's marketing campaign. A promotional photo depicts her sipping coffee on her balcony overlooking the entire Las Vegas Valley to the east. "I love waking up in Summerlin every morning," she said. "It's so beautiful, and I am proud to call it home. That's the reason I was happy to appear in the Summerlin campaign." Situated along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley, the community is being developed in villages.
