Golf tournament showcases Ridges

The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of the Summerlin master-planned community, recently paired with Neiman Marcus to host the third annual "Best Dressed at Bear's Best" golf tournament at Bear's Best Las Vegas in The Ridges village.

Players were invited to participate in the tournament by the upscale retailer's Phil Hernandez, according to Hughes executive Kevin Orrock.

"The tournament was not only a unique benefit for loyal Neiman Marcus customers, it was also a great opportunity for us to showcase Summerlin's most exclusive living environment to this select group," Orrock said.

During the tournament, prizes were awarded to the best-dressed players while "ugly" ties were presented to the worst-dressed participants. Each golfer received gifts from the sponsors.

The Ridges is located at the western end of Desert Inn Road on a hillside adjacent to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and the Spring Mountains. It is being built around the golf course, which features replicas of holes from Jack Nicklaus' courses throughout the western United States and Mexico.

The guard-gated village includes custom-home neighborhoods; a private fitness center and 3-acre park are planned.

Custom-home sites measure at least one-half acre and are priced from the low $500,000s to more than $2 million.

To visit the custom-lot sales center, travel west on Desert Inn Road until it ends in The Ridges and turn left. The building is on the right. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Summerlin has ranked as the nation's best-selling master-planned community much of the past decade.
