Cottages of Green Valley residents join in staff member's wedding
As administrator at Cottages of Green Valley, Sue Darden knows every resident by their first and last name. So when she needed help with her recent wedding at the development, she called on the residents for support. "It was awesome," said Darden, who has been with the development since it opened two years ago. "I can't tell you how much this meant to me for the people here to be a part of my wedding. It is a part of my life that I'll never forget, especially considering how the residents participated." About 80 well-wishers attended the ceremony, where Darden married her husband, Rick. "To me, I didn't want to go to a wedding chapel and I didn't want to go to a justice of the peace," Sue Darden said. "I spend more time with the residents, so it seemed natural for them to be a part of our wedding because they're such a large part of my life." Darden said the residents made all of the corsages and planned the wedding. "The activity director, Jan Tursi, coordinated with the residents the entire planning of the wedding," she said. "The residents worked hand-in-hand daily with Jan to make this happen. I was flattered at the enthusiasm that was shown by everyone." The assisted living and memory care development is situated at 2620 Robindale Road in Henderson. It consists of six assisted living cottages built around a courtyard with three additional secured cottages for memory care. The development was built and managed by companies headed by Cadry and Donna Genena. Further information is available daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the development.
