Ex-Runnin' Rebel buys at Boca Raton

Mid-rise condominium development gets nod for friendly environment, amenities

Warren Rosegreen purchased a unit at Boca Raton condominiums because of the resident-friendly environment it will encompass.

"I enjoy a community feeling whether it's attending church on Sunday or working with local teenage athletes to help them realize their dreams, and Boca Raton embodies that neighborhood feel," said Rosegreen, who in the late 1990s played for the Runnin' Rebels basketball team at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

After graduating with a degree in criminal justice, he turned to basketball as a career. Rosegreen initially played in South Korea, where he was one of 20 Americans to play in the Korean Basketball League. He then joined the legendary Harlem Globetrotters, spending two years traveling the globe.

"I have traveled to more than 130 cities, 42 states and 13 countries during my basketball career, and I can tell you there's no place like the U.S.A.," said Rosegreen, who now is a realty agent.

Boca Raton is under construction at the southwest corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Serene Avenue. The $400 million, guard-gated development occupies 15 acres, and will comprise four seven-story buildings and 756 units.

The residences range from 593 to about 2,300 square feet. Prices start from the $300,000s to more than $1 million.

Rosegreen purchased a Casita C, a two-bedroom suite. It is one of 42 floor plans available.

Common areas at the development will include resort-style swimming pools, trails, pet comfort stations and fitness centers.

"My favorite amenity offered at Boca Raton is the fitness center," Rosegreen said. "There's one in each building in addition to a larger gym in the clubhouse. I teach private basketball lessons and still play pick-up games, so it's important for me to stay in shape.

"I work with a great group of kids who need a little discipline to really help them hone in on their skills and create the work ethic needed to succeed in the industry. This is my way to give something back to Las Vegas, a city that has given me so much."

The sales center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at 2475 W. Serene Ave. A Casita model is open for tours.
