Mountain Falls plans progress
William Lyon Homes will proceed with development of the 900-acre Mountain Falls golf community in Pahrump. "Across the west, William Lyon Homes has developed about 15,000 homes in master-planned communities in the last 20 years," Dean Stewart, vice president of corporate operations, said. "These developments include private, semiprivate and public golf courses and clubhouses; attached and detached housing; parks; sporting complexes; schools; commercial use areas; custom-home sites and many other amenities." "In developing Mountain Falls, we will be applying our significant experience in developing master-planned golf communities," added Terry Connelly, vice president of Nevada operations. Connelly said work is complete on a temporary clubhouse at the golf course. A nearly 15,000-square-foot permanent facility is planned, as is a 5-acre sports park. Mountain Falls will offer several neighborhoods with homes ranging from about 1,500 to more than of 3,000 square feet, Connelly said. An information center is open and models are expected to open in spring 2005. "It's great for Pahrump," said Carrick "Bat" Masterson, chairman of the city's regional planning commission. "I've heard from several people who have previously owned homes built by William Lyon Homes and all the comments have been positive." To visit, take state Route 160 west to Pahrump. Turn left on Manse Road, right on Hafen Ranch Road and then left on Lakeview. Since its founding in 1956, the company has sold more than 56,000 homes.
