Couple discover ideal home at Turtle Creek
When Hubert and Alice Carr discussed retirement in the Las Vegas Valley, she had only one condition: that they buy a new home. "Hubert wanted to move to Las Vegas 22 years ago. It just took me a while to come around to the idea. My one condition was that we buy a new home. But since we've been in Las Vegas, I've really come to enjoy the weather and the lifestyle here," Alice Carr said. The couple recently purchased a single-story Brentwood design at US Home's The Courts at Turtle Creek neighborhood in the northwestern valley. Both said they feel the floor plan provides exactly what they need. "It's so spacious. It gives us room, privacy," Hubert Carr said. Alice Carr also appreciated the opportunity to customize the home. "(The builder) really allows you to use your own taste. At a lot of the communities we looked at, it was sort of `what you see is what you get', but US Home offered us so many possibilities," she said. The design comes standard with four bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and a three-car garage in 2,550 square feet. The Carrs selected the expanded version, which measures 3,100 square feet, and chose to configure the home with dual master suites. "We don't have any children, and the dual master suites work best for our lifestyle. My sister will be coming to visit from Denmark, and the second master makes a wonderful guest suite," Alice Carr said. They also added a variety of upgrades. "I think we added almost every upgrade available," she said, referring to the granite counter tops and accents to the fireplace, upgraded appliances, addition of a second pantry, tile flooring, two-tone paint, and indirect lighting. The two, who moved to the valley from Sacramento, Calif., said they now look forward to retirement and are having a pool built in their back yard. Hubert Carr retired after more than 25 years each in the Army and for the U.S. Postal Service. Alice Carr will retire later this month from a management position at Nellis Air Force Base. At buildout, the gated neighborhood will have 30 homes. Prices start from the $500,000s. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed on the interstate to Jones Boulevard then go south to Azure Drive. Model homes are open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Monday, when they open at 11 a.m. US Home is a member of the Lennar Family of Builders.
