Christopher neighborhood shines at Homers

Christopher Homes, a leading builder of luxury homes in Southern Nevada, won several honors recently at the Homer Awards, presented by the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association.

The builder garnered five awards including Home of the Year for the DaVinci design at The Christopher Collection, a neighborhood being built at the guard-gated Southern Highlands Golf Club in the southwestern valley.

The DaVinci is a two-story home measuring 5,016 square feet with three bedrooms, a separate guest suite and a study. It features an optional underground wine cellar and a covered terrace with a fireplace on the upper level. It also has a rotunda entry, a covered patio and a gallery overlooking a central courtyard.

Other Homer awards captured by the DaVinci included Best Single-Family Detached Home 3,501 square feet and over; and Best Model Home Interior Decoration/Single-Family Detached, $22.01 per square foot and over.

"Flawless execution. Quality job all around. Strong personality. Totally livable -- not just for show. Creative use of space and the outside living space made sense. Attention to detail. Courtyard is an oasis," the judges stated in their comments.

The neighborhood was also honored with awards for Best Single Product Merchandising Campaign, as well as Best Sales Office, 601 square feet and over.

The neighborhood offers 15 single- and two-story floor plans, ranging from about 3,000 to 6,200 square feet and priced from the high $400,000s to more than $1 million. Each offers four exterior designs, 12 color palettes and design options. Home sites average one-quarter acre, with more than 75 percent of the lots located along the golf course.

J. Christopher Stuhmer, chief executive officer for the company, was pleased with the recognition.

"At The Christopher Collection, we spared no expense in creating a neighborhood that complements both the rich architecture of the homes and the outstanding quality of the Southern Highlands Golf Club," Stuhmer said. "The Southern Highlands Golf Club has blossomed into one of the most prestigious places to live in Las Vegas and The Christopher Collection harmonizes perfectly with the luxurious country club lifestyle offered here. We are honored ..."

Standard features include a stainless-steel appliance package, oak or maple cabinetry, and granite counter tops. Each buyer receives a $25,000 allowance in the base price of each home to use toward structural variations and options. Each buyer consults with a series of specialists who assist with the selection of floor plans, options, upgrades and other choices.

The neighborhood features landscaping throughout, tree-lined streets and other open areas.

Each buyer receives a social membership to the Southern Highlands Golf Club, upon application approval. The club provides roving security, concierge services, parks, open areas and recreational facilities.

Consisting exclusively of semicustom and custom homes, the enclave is located on the southern edge of the 2,300-acre Southern Highlands master-planned community.
