Ridgebrook shapes up in Summerlin
Summerlin's newest mini-village, Ridgebrook, is taking shape on 105 acres in the western portion of the master-planned community. "Ridgebrook is a unique and intimate living environment located off Desert Inn Road and the Western Beltway," said Stew Gibbons, executive vice president of The Howard Hughes Corp., which oversees Summerlin development. "Four neighborhoods surround the park, and Ridgebrook will also be the site of Summerlin's next public elementary school, the Judy and John Goolsby Elementary School, which is scheduled to open in fall 2002." The neighborhoods will feature a desert contemporary style with deep overhangs and earth tones, and the wall materials and landscaping will be similar to those of The Ridges, the village to the west. Neighborhoods include SouthStar by R/S Development, with homes ranging from 1,528 to 1,900 square feet and priced from the mid-$100,000s; Sunset Ridge by Pulte Homes, with designs measuring from 1,418 to 1,881 square feet, priced from the high $100,000s; Granite Peaks by KB Home, with floor plans ranging from 1,880 to 2,550 square feet, priced from the high $100,000s; and Echo Ridge by Pulte, with homes measuring from 1,657 to 2,486 square feet, priced from the low $200,000s. "Ridgebrook provides a serene setting with the intimacy of just four neighborhoods," Gibbons said. "The community park serves as the village centerpiece and the mountain backdrop frames this ideal setting." Construction of the 6.5-acre park is expected to begin in December or in January 2002, with completion planned in May 2002. Plans include basketball and tennis courts, a children's play area, and a picnic area. The new school will be named after former Hughes Corp. president and CEO John Goolsby, who retired in 1998 after 18 years with the company. Summerlin, which has ranked as the nation's best-selling master-planned community eight of the past nine years, is home to two Tournament Players Club golf courses, a Bear's Best Las Vegas course and five others. It also features nearly 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 90 completed miles of trails, 16 public and private schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, business parks, medical centers, and nearly 130 model homes. Houses, townhomes and condominiums are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $700,000. Custom lots measuring from one-quarter acre to three-quarters of an acre are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $3 million, and predesigned custom homes are priced from $500,000 to several million dollars. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the $700s. To visit the home finding center, take Sahara Avenue west, past Hualapai Way to Town Center Drive. Or, take the Interstate 215 to Sahara. The Center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
