Friends share Summerlin life
Home is a backyard campout, according to three boys who are friends, residents of Summerlin, and share the spotlight in a new print advertising campaign for the master-planned community. Seven-year-old Ian Ogilvie, 7-year-old Zach Friel, and 5-year-old Gabe Gutierrez were an ideal choice to promote the community, according to Kim Haley, associate marketing director for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. "Children are such an integral part of the Summerlin community," she said. "These young campers speak volumes about Summerlin's family focus and the community's active, vibrant lifestyle enhanced by dozens of events and recreational opportunities for residents of all ages." The advertisement shows the boys in pajamas, seated outside a tent. All have lived in Summerlin for more than five years, and play on the same T-ball team. Individually, they enjoy soccer, football and kung fu. "They keep us busy," Lori Friel said. "We're fortunate to live close to parks, schools and other amenities so we can do it all." Friel's son, Zach, agreed. "I love Summerlin 'cause all my friends live here," he said. Michelle Ogilvie, Ian's mother, said, "We're spoiled with everything we need right here in Summerlin." Mark Gutierrez said he and his wife moved to Summerlin because of its family-oriented lifestyle. Their son, Gabe, was only one week old at the time. "We got a new house, a new child and even a new dog in one week, but we've never regretted the change. It's been great for us," Gutierrez said. Summerlin ranked as the country's best-selling master-planned community for much of the last decade, according to independent surveys. It aligns the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley and comprises villages. The community contains more than 100 parks, more than 100 miles of trails, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities, business parks and nearly 120 model homes. Single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums are priced from the mid-$300,000s to more than $2 million. Custom-home sites in The Ridges village are priced from the $500,000s. Monthly rent for apartments starts from the mid-$800s. For more information, visit www.reviewjournal.com/real estate and click on the Summerlin link.
