Pardee adapts designs to families

Pardee Home's two-story Plan Three design at its Aliso neighborhood in the Vista Verde community in northwest Las Vegas offers flexible options for families, sales executive Rob Tuvell said.

"With up to four bedrooms, including a downstairs suite, Aliso's Plan Three is one of the most versatile homes in Vista Verde," he said.

The design comes standard with three bedrooms, three baths, a great room, dining room, office and three-car tandem garage.

College educators John and Eileen Metcalfe purchased the design with the optional downstairs suite, which they plan to use as a classroom for their son, Casey, 5, who will be home schooled.

The Metcalfes also chose several of the builder's LivingSmart options, including high-efficiency air-conditioning and air-filtration systems, tankless water heater, central vacuum, radiant roof barrier and drought-tolerant landscaping.

Eileen Metcalfe said they appreciate that the builder offers water-saving landscaping, especially considering the drought conditions, as well as the air filter and vacuum options, because some family members have severe allergies.

"We live in the desert and we have to learn to live responsibly with restrictions in our water supply," Tuvell said. "As the Metcalfe family has found, there are water-saving systems and drought-tolerant plants that are attractive alternatives to sprinklers and lawns."

These features are in addition to the Energy Star/ComfortWise package, which is standard in all of the builder's new homes.

The homes are independently certified to be at least 30 percent more energy efficient than federal standards require.

Vista Verde comprises the Aliso and Ventana neighborhoods.

Priced from $297,450 to $415,950, Aliso offers four designs with as many as five bedrooms and three baths. They measure as much as 2,566 square feet and include great rooms, kitchen islands and options for lofts and bay windows.

Ventana's four one- and two-story plans provide as many as six bedrooms in designs as large as 4,030 square feet. They are priced from $454,950 to $529,450 and offer courtyard entries, optional sunrooms, game rooms, teen rooms and workshops, per plan.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 north to Durango Drive and turn left. Go to Oso Blanca Road, turn right, proceed to Severance Lane and turn left. Visitors are welcome from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Monday, when the sales office and models open at 11 a.m.

Pardee has built nearly 30,000 homes in Southern Nevada since 1952.
