French chef visits Le Cordon Bleu in Summerlin

Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Las Vegas recently received a visit from Le Cordon Bleu International President Andre Cointreau, who heads the French Cointreau Liquer and Remy Martin Cognac dynasties in Paris.

Le Cordon Bleu, a premier culinary arts institute with Parisian roots dating to 1895, opened its 60,000-square-foot Las Vegas college in July at The Crossing Business Center within the Summerlin master-planned community.

Cointreau, along with Dan Van Epp, president of The Howard Hughes Corp., and John "Jack" Larson, president of Career Education Corp., were among the honored guests at the school's grand opening. Several local executive chefs also attended.

The college's students prepared several dishes and desserts that were served to more than 500 guests.

"The look and presentation were very impressive, especially considering the short amount of time the students have been in school," said Jennifer White, college president.

The college is the flagship property for the international school, according to Cointreau.

"Le Cordon Bleu is a great asset to the Summerlin community," Van Epp said. "The school's professionalism and expertise raises the bar of the community's educational offerings."

Developed by Hughes Corp., Summerlin is home to golf courses, parks, trails, 16 schools, houses of worship, medical facilities, business parks and nearly 120 models.

Available homes, townhomes and condominiums are priced from the low $200,000s to more than $700,000.

Custom-home sites are priced from the high $500,000s. Predesigned custom homes are priced from $2.1 million.
