Rural recreation: State park anchors northwest community Longtime Nevadan Terri Robertson has been visiting Floyd Lamb State Park since it was a distant oasis northwest of the rooftops of Las Vegas. Recent Bay Area transplants Bill and Betsy Donovan began visiting the park with their three dogs last year, after moving into their home abutting the former ranch and archaeological site. Both parties are among many who say the state-run park on the northern edge of Las Vegas city limits is their favorite because of its natural beauty and the respite it offers from urban life.
