Recreational amenities attract Oregonians to Aliante

When Truman and Sandra Mincer decided to move to Nevada from Portland, Ore., they found the best home for their family at Aliante, a master-planned community in North Las Vegas.

"My parents have lived in Southern Nevada for some time, and we knew that we would eventually be moving here as well. We had casually looked at homes during our many visits here, beginning in 1996. Then, in 2000, we started looking more seriously," Sandra Mincer said.

Meanwhile, her father bought a home at Sun City Aliante, Del Webb's age-qualified component of the community.

"Dad said, `You've got to check this place out. It's going to be a great place to live and an excellent investment.' So we drove through Aliante, visited the information gallery, and both agreed that this would be a wonderful place to buy a home," she said. "The golf course, Nature Discovery Park, trail system and other recreational amenities were very attractive to us as we all enjoy outdoor activities."

They bought a home in Pulte Homes' Vialetto neighborhood.

"We were familiar with the quality and energy efficiency of Pulte Homes and pleased to see that they were building two neighborhoods in Aliante," Truman Mincer said. "The home we chose is very comfortable for us and our 13-year-old son, plus it has the extra space we will need when our grown children come to visit."

The 1,905-acre community has primary and age-qualified villages. The primary village builders, D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes, offer designs ranging from 1,141 to 3,990 square feet and priced from the $130,000s to the $380,000s.

Sun City Aliante offers homes ranging from 1,155 to 2,105 square feet and priced from the $190,000s to the $270,000s.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Centennial Parkway, exit east to Sky Pointe Drive and turn right. Turn right at Frontage Road, then left onto Interstate 215. Exit at Aliante Parkway and go south to the primary village or north to Sun City. An information center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
