Awards: Home of the Year

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

Pardee Homes has experienced a year full of industry honors on both the national and local levels. Most recently, the builder claimed four Homer awards, including 2003 Home of the Year, at a gala put on by the Southern Nevada Home Builder's Association.

"Pardee welcomed 2003 by being honored as America's Best Builder during the International Home Builders Show, and we are wrapping up this incredible year by building the 2004 Show Home," said Klif Andrews, vice president of community development for Pardee in Southern Nevada. "The recent (Homer) recognition is the icing on our incredible cake."

Andrews pointed out that for the first time in the 20-year history of the Homer Awards, the judges made a unanimous decision in choosing the Home of the Year: the Ventana Plan Four at Vista Verde.

One of the judges, all of whom were from outside Nevada, said, "It was a unanimous decision and an easy one for the judges. The quality of the home shined and the attention to detail and design were superb."

The Ventana Plan Four also won in the category of Best Single-Family Detached Home at 2,100 to 3,500 square feet and priced from $271,000 to $310,000.

In addition, the builder was recognized for the Mandevilla Plan Four at Eldorado Highlands, which took top honors in the category of Best Single-Family Detached Home at 2,000 to 3,000 square feet and priced from $221,000 to $280,000; and ranked No. 1 for Best Single Product Merchandising Campaign for Vista Verde, which is located in the northwestern valley.

Vista Verde is a showcase for Pardee's LivingSmart program, which includes environmentally sensitive features and options in the categories of EarthSmart, EnergySmart and HealthSmart. Vista Verde also promotes the beauty and livability of desert landscaping, according to Andrews. Built around a desert demonstration garden, the model homes showcase water-efficient xeriscape designs, including artificial turf.

Pardee was also honored this year by the Environmental Protection Agency as an Energy Star Partner of the Year in recognition of the company's industry commitment to build only Energy Star homes, which are independently certified to be at least 30 percent more energy efficient than federal standards require.

To visit Vista Verde, take U.S. Highway 95 north to Durango Drive and turn left. Go to Oso Blanca Road, turn right, proceed to Severance Lane and turn left.

Mandevilla is located within Pardee's Eldorado planned community in North Las Vegas. The neighborhood features four floor plans offering as many as eight bedrooms, six baths and four-car garages. To visit, take Craig Road to Camino al Norte and proceed north to the community's entrance.

All of the builder's sales offices are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Monday, when they open at 11 a.m.

Pardee has built homes and communities for more than 25,000 families in Southern Nevada since 1952.
