Aliante's master-planned living impresses Washington duo

When former Washington residents Robert and Susan Wood set out to purchase their first home in Southern Nevada, they looked at many new and resale homes before finding exactly what they wanted within the Aliante master-planned community in North Las Vegas.

"We looked at a number of homes and neighborhoods, but once we drove into Aliante, we knew we had found something special. The overall design of this community, including the landscaped streets, the miles of walking trails and all of the recreational amenities were superior to anything we had seen elsewhere," Susan Wood said.

Robert Wood said he also was impressed by the community's design.

"We came from a rural area of Washington, so we weren't familiar with the concept of master-planned living. But it didn't take long for us to understand the benefits associated with living in a community like Aliante. Here, you get more than just a home -- you get a great lifestyle to go with it. We really like the features the developer has incorporated in this community," he said.

The Woods purchased a home at D.R. Horton's Manor neighborhood, a gated enclave of single-story homes.

"Our three children were married within the last 22 months, so this is our first experience as `empty nesters.' We wanted a home that would be comfortable for the two of us and also offer extra room for when we have visitors," Susan Wood said.

"When we walked into the Plan 2350, it was like a dream come true. It had everything we wanted on a single level, including a great room and dual master suites, which will be ideal when our children come to visit."

Robert Wood added that many of their friends are already planning to visit.

"We can't wait to show them everything about Aliante. The scenic location, the beautiful homes and all of the amenities add up to a wonderful place to live," he said.

Aliante is being developed by North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb Corp. Encompassing 1,905 acres, the community consists of primary and age-qualified villages, which will have as many as 7,500 homes.

About 22 percent of the land has been designated for recreational and public purposes including an 18-hole, par-72 championship municipal golf course; three city parks; more than 20 miles of lit concrete trails and linear parks; and an arroyo. One-hundred acres have been set aside for commercial development.

Primary village builders are D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes. Del Webb Communities is building the age-qualified Sun City Aliante community.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Centennial Parkway, exit east to Sky Pointe Drive and turn right. Turn right at Frontage Road, then left onto Interstate 215. Exit at Aliante Parkway and go south for the primary village or north for the age-qualified community.

The information center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
