MacDonald Highlands' mountain setting, views extolled

Taking luxury and privacy to new heights, 2,700 feet to be precise, MacDonald Highlands is becoming one of the premier housing developments in Southern Nevada, according to developer Rich MacDonald.

He said the community, located in Henderson, is recognized for its setting and custom lots carved into the mountainside, offering views of the city and DragonRidge Country Club. Ten custom-home neighborhoods feature lots priced from $196,000.

The community was home to the 2002 Street of Dreams, and will host the 2004 show.

"Builders for the 2004 Street of Dreams show are currently breaking ground, and from what I've seen so far will surpass any show to date; the designs are extraordinary," MacDonald said.

The show will be held in the new Bent Green neighborhood, which offers flat golf course lots with city views. Lots are available next to the planned show homes; they range from .46 acres to .92 acres and are priced from $369,000.

DragonRidge, the community's central amenity, was designed and built to be a private country club, but will be open to the public on a limited basis until its membership capacity is reached. The two-year-old course played host to the first two Tiger Jam charity golf events and the recent Wendy's Three Tour Challenge.

The clubhouse, scheduled for completion this year, will feature a golf shop, exercise facility, swimming pool, dining room, and a mixed grill and lounge.

The guard-gated community includes three neighborhood parks that will encompass about 10 acres and include tennis, basketball and volleyball courts; play areas; and picnic facilities. In addition, there will be five miles of fitness trails meandering throughout the community and providing access to nature trails in the mountains.
