Hughes Corp. fine-tunes Summerlin marketing plan

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

The Howard Hughes Corp. has revamped its Summerlin Web site to simplify the search for a new home within the master-planned community. In addition, the developer closed the community's home finding center on May 26.

"... Our research shows a majority of home buyers are using the Internet to secure information they could previously only get by visiting the home finding center. Our Web site is being redesigned to function as a virtual information center," said Larry Brocato, executive vice president for Hughes Corp. "With more than 150 ... (models), the choices in Summerlin are staggering. This new Web site puts all available new-home inventory at a buyer's fingertips right in their home or office."

The site -- www.summerlin.com -- provides potential home buyers with a list of participating home builders, prices, square footages, numbers of bedrooms and baths, as well as village descriptions, printable maps and a mortgage calculator.

Visitors can also access an eight-minute video detailing the community's recreational and cultural facilities, shopping centers, restaurants, medical facilities, schools, houses of worship, office parks and other amenities.

"It's really a great tool that allows buyers to look for a home in Summerlin whenever it's convenient for them," Hughes Corp. marketing executive Kristi Overgaard said, adding that a Realtor link, accessible by password, is also featured.

For visitors of Summerlin, Hughes Corp. plans to install an informational kiosk at Charleston Boulevard and Town Center Drive, just east of Interstate 215. The kiosk will open in July.

Summerlin has ranked as the nation's best-selling master-planned community for 10 of the past 11 years, according to independent surveys. The master-planned community aligns the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley and is being developed in a series of villages.

There are eight golf courses, including two Tournament Players Club facilities and the Bear's Best Las Vegas course. Also featured are 105 neighborhood and village parks, schools, offices and retail centers, worship sites and more than 100 miles of trails.

Single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums are available, priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $700,000. More than 150 model homes are open for viewing.

Custom-home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s to more than $1 million, and predesigned custom homes are priced from $2.1 million.

Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the high $700s.
