Sun City Aliante lifestyle appeals to buyer

When Ed Gallegos moved to Southern Nevada from the state of Washington, he found what he considers the perfect home for his lifestyle at Del Webb's Sun City Aliante.

The age-qualified community, located within the Aliante master plan in North Las Vegas, offers seven single-story, energy-efficient designs.

Gallegos is a self-described fitness fanatic. While he started the bocce club for community residents, his true passion is walking and hiking.

"I'm currently training with the walking organization `Team in Training' to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This October, I'll be walking the San Francisco Marathon to raise money for this charity. It will probably take seven to eight hours to walk the whole 26.2 miles.

"Sun City Aliante is a great community for me because of the lifestyle and amenities. It's a brand new city for me and, as a single man, I've made lots of new friends," Gallegos said.

"Also, having lived up in the northwest part of the country, there is a big emphasis on energy conservation. So, it's nice to move here and pay reduced heating and cooling costs, which have been very reasonable."

Each of the builder's homes incorporates Environments For Living building technology, which includes energy-saving features such as low-e windows and blown-in cellulose insulation. In addition to qualifying for certification as Environmental Protection Agency Energy Star homes, they offer a three-year heating and cooling energy-use guarantee.

Gallegos purchased the Laurel model, which measures 1,576 square feet and features two bedrooms, two baths, a den, great room and two-car garage. A detached casita is optional.

Additional floor plans range from 1,155 to 2,105 square feet. Prices start from the low $300,000s to the high $430,000s.

All of the homes include front- and backyard desert landscaping.

Plans for the community call for a recreation center with a swimming pool, fitness center, and club and hobby rooms. Tennis and bocce courts are open.

Residents also benefit from the amenities of Aliante such as Nature Discovery Park, which features a themed playground, a group picnic area, amphitheater, soccer fields, and tennis and volleyball courts. The public Aliante Golf Club features an 18-hole, par-72 course. Trails and other open spaces are planned, as are retail stores and a medical center.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to Aliante Parkway and go north. The sales office is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Del Webb is a subsidiary of Pulte Homes Inc., one of the nation's largest home-building companies.
