Record new-home sales posted in Summerlin

The master-planned community of Summerlin has set a weekly sales record for the third time in less than three months, according to Stew Gibbons, executive vice president for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of the community.

During the week of May 8, 114 new homes were sold in the community, surpassing the previous record of 102 sales the week of April 1. In late February, 94 sales were posted in one week, breaking the previous weekly sales record at that time.

"Summerlin's recent string of record-breaking success suggests that the community is delivering on its promise of a quality lifestyle with abundant amenities and a rich social fabric," Gibbons said.

"Ten years into its 25-year buildout, Summerlin has a rapidly growing population of more than 60,000, who are helping to make this community the most desirable place to live in Southern Nevada. The residents of Summerlin, who give the community its heart and soul, play a big role in helping the community maintain its quality."

The 22,500-acre community aligns the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley and has an elevation about 1,000 feet higher than downtown.

Summerlin offers a full calendar of special events and activities planned exclusively for its residents in addition to a variety of clubs and special interest groups.

There are eight golf courses, including two Tournament Players Club courses, a Bear's Best course and five others. Also featured are nearly 100 parks, more than 45 completed miles of trails, 16 public and private schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, business parks, medical centers, and nearly 150 model homes.

Townhomes, condominiums and single-family homes are priced from under $100,000 to more than $700,000. Custom lots from one-quarter acre to three-quarters of an acre are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $1 million. Predesigned custom homes are priced from $500,000 to more than $1 million. Apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the $700s.

To visit the home finding center, take Sahara Avenue west past Hualapai Way to Town Center Drive. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara. The office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
