Pennsylvanians buy home in Sun City Anthem

Bob and Connie Barbin of Lancaster, Pa., were vacationing in Southern Nevada when they decided to visit Del Webb Corp.'s Sun City Anthem community in Henderson.

"We were in the process of looking at various sites around the country, when we came to Las Vegas to celebrate our daughter's birthday, and realized we didn't need to look any further," Bob Barbin said.

While retaining their home in Lancaster, they purchased another within the age-qualified community.

"We still spend a lot of time back East, but we love every minute out here," said Barbin, a retired electrical engineer. "We have spectacular views of the mountains, and the weather is great."

Barbin said they chose the Cambridge plan because it is a "see-through house."

"It's very open and spacious, so you can see mountains in both directions, and being right on The Revere golf course, we enjoy that scenery, too," he said.

For many residents, the daily routine includes tennis in the morning and exercise in the afternoon at Anthem Center, a 75,000-square-foot recreation facility. It offers fitness, social and recreational opportunities as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public.

"I love Trumpets," Barbin said. "The food and view are both great."

There are 17 models available, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the Gold Key program. Homes are priced from $137,750 to more than $500,000.

To visit the model village, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. Models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
