Christopher sponsors special event

Useful information regarding the design, decor and flow of a home will be presented today at The Christopher Collection and The Villas, both of which are located within the Southern Highlands Golf Club in the southwestern valley.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Maggie Brandon, owner of a design company, will present tips on how homeowners can cost-effectively transform their design ideas into beautiful and comfortable living spaces that reflect their personalities and tastes.

Feng shui master and author Kristie Allen will be on hand from 1 to 2:30 p.m. to discuss the ancient Chinese art, which is focused on the relationships between humans and their environment. She will discuss principals of placement in a home to enable the proper flow of energy.

Visitors to the Christopher Homes' neighborhoods can also enjoy treats created by chef Mary Bergin. Bergin will prepare brownies, tarts, cookies and other baked goods, which will be served with iced coffees and iced tea.

Twenty-eight of the 98 homes at The Christopher Collection remain available for sale. There are five single-story plans; two two-story residences with main-level master suites; and eight two-story plans with upstairs master suites. Ranging from about 3,000 to more than 6,200 square feet and priced from the high $400,000s to more than $1 million, the homes include stainless steel appliance packages, oak or maple cabinetry, and granite counter tops.

Many of the home sites, which average about one-quarter acre, are located along the golf course and in cul-de-sacs. They feature course, mountain and city views.

The builder includes a $25,000 allowance in the base price for customizing options, which may include elevators, casitas, wine cellars and courtyards with fireplaces.

The Villas, the builder's newest neighborhood, offers seven designs that measure from about 2,100 to more 3,300 square feet. Prices range from the high $300,000s to the mid-$800,000s.

Buyers may expand one-story plans to two stories and the two-story design to three stories. Some lots offer views of the course, city and mountains, and most are located in cul-de-sacs. Each home features a courtyard with an optional fireplace and a backyard terrace. One home is set for move-in this month, and two offer June occupancy.

The community association handles the landscaping of the front yards and open space.

Buyers at both neighborhoods have access to the builder's in-house design center.

Homeowners enjoy the amenities of the guard-gated Southern Highlands Golf Club. Features include roving security, concierge services, a planned sports and fitness center, swimming pool, tennis courts, and clubhouse. The builder provides each buyer at both neighborhoods with a social membership to the club, upon application approval.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to Lake Mead Drive and exit west. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
