Sports club expansion under way at Red Rock

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

The expansion of the sports club at Red Rock Country Club in Summerlin will be completed in August, and will more than double the size of the facility's fitness room.

"The fitness room is being expanded by 1,365 square feet to the north and, upon completion, will not only double the size of the room, it will also make way for additional cardiovascular and strength equipment, a new sound system, as well as storage and stretching areas," fitness director Sally Puskar said.

The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area can be seen through picture windows at the facility, which also offers the latest in fitness classes, including Pilates, Spinning, martial arts and Ashtanga yoga.

"Our members are always complimenting us on the extensive variety of classes offered at the sports club," Puskar said. "The fitness staff currently offers approximately 35 classes throughout the week with 14 different classes to add variety to anyone's workout regime. Equipment clinics are also available to familiarize members with the equipment housed in our fitness center."

Puskar and personal trainers Darrin Leak, Katie Paradise and Josef Vital offer more than 36 years of combined fitness experience to club members.

Complementing the 9,500-square-foot facility are saunas, steam rooms, an aerobics studio, massage therapy rooms, locker rooms and a supervised children's play center.

The club serves as the entrance to the country club's aquatic center with a family pool, therapeutic spa, adults-only pool, lap pool, splash-and-spray mini-park and an outdoor grill. Swimming classes taught by certified instructors are available in two-week sessions June through August, and are open to all ages.

Residents and members can also access the tennis center, where director Jeff Foley, head professional Crombie Hatfield and tennis professionals Ben Coates and Gail Falkenberg offer individual and group lessons to people of all ages. The center features a stadium court, where professional exhibitions and amateur tournaments are held, as well as nine lighted, hard-surface courts.

The hub of social activity is the clubhouse, a 44,000-square-foot facility offering casual and fine dining, as well as meeting areas and banquet facilities. It also houses a pro shop and locker rooms, both with a sauna, steam room, lounge and media center.

Two Arnold Palmer-designed golf courses are featured, as is a practice facility with a double-ended driving range, putting green and chipping areas.

The guard-gated community will comprise 1,116 homes. Single- and two-story floor plans are available, ranging from 2,300 to 5,300 square feet with as many as six bedrooms and a four-car garage. Homes are priced from the $350,000s to more than $2 million. Customizing options include casitas, courtyards with fireplaces, sit-down wet bars, and master bedrooms with media niches and fireplaces. A professional design staff is on-site to assist buyers.

In addition, the Sunsation program allows for options such as structural changes, room additions, construction of custom swimming pools, as well as upgraded landscaping, and patio and lighting designs.

Thirteen custom-home sites remain in The Estates, a gated neighborhood of 86 lots. Measuring from 15,000 to 20,000 square feet, the lots are priced from $315,000 to $500,000.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue west, past Town Center Drive, and follow the signs. Or, take Interstate 215 to the Sahara exit. The sales office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The developer, Sunrise Colony Co., is also building Siena, an age-qualified community in Summerlin.
