Cure Asthma benefit golf tourney set for JuneSPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE
The 11th annual Cure Asthma Golf Classic is scheduled for Monday, June 7 at Rio Secco Golf Club within the Seven Hills community in Henderson. Cox Communications is the title sponsor of the event, which benefits the National Jewish Medical and Research Center. Based in Denver, it is the nation's only nondenominational facility devoted to research, patient care and education for chronic lung, allergic and immune system diseases affecting children and adults. Steve Schorr, event co-chairman and an executive for Cox Communications, said the tourney has been well supported by local residents, as well as the business community. "Since its inception, the annual golf tournament has raised more than $750,000 locally for National Jewish," he said. In the last three years, 76 Nevada residents sought care at National Jewish, which provided $10,884 in charity and subsidized services to Nevadans, according to Schorr. The tournament is one of a dozen held each year in the United States to raise funds for the medical center. Rio Secco has hosted the event for five years. Entry packages start at $650 per golfer and include green fees, cart, tee gifts, lunch, putting contest and dinner. Live and silent auctions for a variety of items will be held at the reception. In addition to Schorr, event chairmen are Mark Fine of Mark L. Fine Associates; Jim Gibson, mayor of Henderson; and Arnie Adamsen of Lawyers Title of Nevada. Corporate sponsors also include CB Richard Ellis, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth F. Sokol, American Nevada Co. and Findlay Automotive Group.
