Relative's recommendation steers ex-islanders to Aliante

Former Hawaii residents Kuulei and Greg Jakubczak looked at more than 40 homes throughout the valley before finding the ideal location and design for their family at the Aliante master-planned community in North Las Vegas.

"Aliante was actually the last community we looked at," Kuulei Jakubczak said. "We have a cousin here in the construction business who was very enthusiastic about Aliante, and highly recommended that we look at homes here before buying anywhere else. Just to be sure, we looked at a number of other homes in the valley first. Once we saw Aliante, we knew our search was over."

She said the community's amenities appealed to their family of six.

"From the moment we drove into Aliante, my husband and I looked at each other and said, `we like this.' There was just something about the atmosphere of the community; we didn't even know what it was, but we really liked it," she said.

The couple chose Plan 2284, a design at Pulte Homes' Vialetto neighborhood.

"We like the two-story design, the spaciousness, the four bedrooms and the large living areas," Jakubczak said. "With four children we need that kind of space, and this home is perfect. We were also impressed by the quality of our home. Pulte showed us the many superior features that are built into their homes, which made us feel even better about our decision to buy a home in Aliante."

Encompassing 1,905 acres, Aliante comprises two villages, one for all ages and another that is age-qualified.

Builders in the main village are D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes, while Del Webb Corp. is developing the age-qualified Sun City Aliante.

Homes are priced from the $180,000s to the $500,000s.

More than 425 acres are designated for recreational and public purposes including the municipal Aliante Golf Club, three city parks, more than 20 miles of trails, and an arroyo. A fire station opened in April.

Plans also call for three schools and about 100 acres of commercial development including retail and business centers, as well as a resort with gaming.

Aliante is a development of North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit, then go south. The sales center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
