Auto racer to visit Shadow Springs

KB Home is inviting home shoppers to race over to its new Shadow Springs neighborhood in North Las Vegas for preconstruction prices and to meet NASCAR driver Mike Cofer, who will visit today with his race car.

The neighborhood features three home series, and 21 single- and two-story floor plans, ranging from 1,384 to 2,784 square feet. Prices start in the high $140,000s.

"Preconstruction pricing offers buyers a lot of home for their money," said Bonnie Hernandez, director of marketing for the builder's Las Vegas division. "We haven't started building the homes, but Shadow Springs is already a popular community."

The homes offer from three to six bedrooms, two to three baths, and two-car garages.

Sales agent Joseph Bell said he's seeing a lot of first-time buyers and families looking to move into larger homes.

"Many buyers want a home with enough sizable bedrooms to accommodate a growing family or, in many cases, growing kids," he said.

Family considerations prompted Jason and Crystal Thiriot to select a 2,233-square-foot home from the Sanctuary series. The Thiriots have two children.

"At Shadow Springs we found great prices for the square footage; perfect for our family to grow into," Crystal Thiriot said. "As a mother, my top criteria were ... a nice area and plenty of room for the kids to run around in."

An added bonus, Jason's brother Nate bought a home next door and plans to live in it with another brother.

"We're really excited to live next to each other. We live near the park and can't wait to have barbecues together. Not to mention, if we ever need a baby sitter," Crystal Thiriot said.

Shared amenities will include a 5-acre park with a walking trail, sand volleyball courts, covered and uncovered pavilion areas, barbecue grills, and a playground. In addition, there will be two smaller parks.

Ten models are expected to open in June.

To visit, take Interstate 15 north to Interstate 215, travel west to Losee Road and turn left. Proceed to Azure Drive and turn left. The sales office is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Friday, when it opens at 11 a.m.
