Green Valley art show called success
Organizers of the recent Green Valley Town Center Art Festival are calling the event a success. Thousands of people attended to view the works of more than 100 artisans. The show was sponsored by American Nevada Co., the developer and property manager of Green Valley Town Center, and organized by local artist Mark Vranesh. Among the highlights was a contest featuring art by Henderson youngsters themed "Art Makes the World a Better Place." Awards were presented to winners in two age divisions. High school winners were: Jessica Richardson, Coronado High School, first place; Ben Hume, Coronado High School, second place; and Nino Ray Capanang, Basic High School, third place. Elementary school winners were: Alexa Melby, Nate Mack Elementary School, first place; Sara Ferguson, John Dooley Elementary School, second place; and Adonis Todd, Kesterson Elementary School, third place. Each received a gift certificate for art supplies. Honorable mention awards were presented to 14 students, and all those whose work was displayed received participation certificates. Additionally, the festival featured a variety of fine arts such as painting, sculpture, pottery, glasswork, photography and jewelry; handcrafted items such as soaps, candles and potpourri; and the Kidz Art Park, where children participated in a variety of hands-on arts and craft projects. American Nevada Co. specializes in the design and development of master-planned communities and commercial properties.
