Sun City Anthem couple move up

Robert and Susan Buckmaster have been so happy residing in Sun City Anthem for the past two years, that they plan to move up within the age-qualified community in Henderson.

The couple originally purchased the 1,802-square-foot Colonial plan, and are currently awaiting the start of construction in June on their 2,620-square-foot Bostonian plan from the Estate Series.

Their new home will feature two bedrooms, a kitchen with a nook, den, double front doors, golf cart storage and a two-car garage.

"Susan wanted a room dedicated to her arts and crafts hobbies. She loves to paint, and the larger home provides more space for her painting and wood sculpting," said Robert Buckmaster, who, like his wife, retired from the Department of Defense before relocating to Nevada.

"After many years ... in the D.C. area, we wanted to live in a warm climate with plenty of sunshine," he said. "Living in an age-qualified community was important to us, (and) the whole package is what sold us. The facilities and recreational advantages at Sun City Anthem, along with what Southern Nevada offers such as a good international airport and great entertainment values, made this the most attractive choice."

The couple are avid golfers and participate in league play. Buckmaster said he especially enjoys playing The Lexington course at The Revere at Anthem Golf Club.

"It's fun to play the Lexington course time and time again because it is such a challenging course," he said of the 18-hole championship course.

A second 18-hole golf course, The Concord, is slated to open soon.

Central to the Del Webb community is Anthem Center, where residents can enjoy a variety of fitness, social and recreational opportunities. The center also feature Trumpets Restaurant, which is open to the public.

Buyers can choose from 19 floor plans, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet. Homes are priced from the low $140,000s to more than $500,000.

To visit the model village, take Eastern Avenue south to Anthem Parkway and follow the signs.

The community's sales office is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
