Area Realtors sponsor art contest

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

The Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors has announced the winners of its sixth annual fair housing poster contest. The competition was open to all elementary, middle and high school pupils in Clark County.

The theme was "Fair Housing for Everyone" in recognition of April being Fair Housing Month. The federal Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, family or disability.

Awards were presented in four grade categories: kindergarten-second, third-fifth, sixth-eighth and ninth-12th. The association presented each first-place winner with a $100 savings bond, while each second- and third-place winner received a $50 savings bond.

"The entries that we received were all so great and the kids' enthusiasm was reflected in their work," said Gayle Brown Fox, association president. "As the entries increased, it became more difficult to choose the winners. The judges had their work cut out for them."
