The best boy golfers from high schools throughout the state will gather at Mountain Falls Golf Club on May 15 and 16 to compete in the 2006 Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Class 3A Boys Golf Championship.
The association, which governs all high school athletics in Nevada, selected the 18-hole course to host the event. The par-72 course with a slope rating of 132 extends 7,082 yards. It is located within William Lyon Homes' Mountain Falls community in Pahrump.

Neil Pierce, general manager and head golf professional at the course, looks forward to the tournament.
"It's going to be an incredible showcase of golfing skill," Pierce said. "We're waiving our green fees for these 44 young players to applaud their determination to be the best student-athletes they can be. Just like Pahrump is an extension of our Mountain Falls community, these high school golfers from around the state are part of our extended family. We're interested to see how they handle our most difficult holes and some of the unique challenges they'll face with the course."
The participants will play 36 holes of golf.
The location of the tournament alternates between Northern and Southern Nevada.
On April 10 and 11, Mountain Falls hosted the 17th annual Pahrump Valley Invitational, which featured 100 of the top high school players from Nevada, California and Arizona. Erik Newkirk of Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas won the event.
The golf club features two putting greens, three chipping greens, a practice bunker and a driving range with mountain views.
A 22,000-square-foot clubhouse with a pro shop, restaurant and lounge is scheduled to debut in June.
New single-story homes are available in the Cascata, Tramonto and Bella Sera subdivisions. Prices start from the low $200,000s.
The information center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
To visit, take Interstate 15 to Blue Diamond Road and drive west about 45 miles. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road, proceed to Hafen Ranch Road and turn right, then left on Lakeview Drive.
