House member fond of Pardee house

U.S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley of Nevada was one of a dozen state leaders who participated in a video commemorating Pardee Homes' 50th anniversary in Southern Nevada.

"I want to thank Pardee for helping to make Las Vegas a better place to live, a better community and a wonderful place not only for us to grow up but to raise our children as well," Berkley said.

Berkley's first family home was in a Pardee neighborhood near Valley High School.

"I have so many warm memories of that house. It was more than a house. It was a home. When my sister and I were kids, it was the center of our social life. My mother was one of those women who'd rather know where we were and she'd rather have all the kids coming to the house," she said.

"When we bought that home, it gave us a stake in this community. This was our town. This was where we would put down our roots. So I am absolutely delighted to be able to congratulate Pardee Homes on their anniversary. Thank you for 50 wonderful years."

Pardee has built more than 25,000 homes in Southern Nevada since 1952, as well as several planned communities.
