Aliante elementary on track to welcome pupils this fall
Principal helps ready first school in community
Several builders in Aliante offer opportunities for buyers to move into their new homes within as little as 30 days, allowing families with young children to start the next school year at a brand-new facility, the Theron H. and Naomi D. Goynes Elementary School, which opens in the fall at the master-planned community in North Las Vegas.
The new school is under construction and on schedule to open for the next school year, according to Principal Jefferey Hybarger, who has worked in education locally for more than 10 years.

"We are very excited to bring this new school to the community," Hybarger said. "As we begin the great work of building a new school community together, I'm encouraging parents to feel free to contact me with any questions relating to their child's education or about the progress we are making in preparing the school. I am pleased to take on this new challenge and I am hoping parents will join me in providing a positive place for children to attend school."
The design of the new school features the Clark County School District's "community concept" with classrooms grouped around common learning centers. The design aims to increase interaction among children of various ages and learning phases, while promoting a group learning environment.
Located at Allen Lane and Aviary Way, it will open as a nine-month school, serving grades kindergarten through fifth.
The school is one of three, including another elementary and a middle school, planned for the community.
Aliante, a development of North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb, encompasses more than 1,900 acres. It comprises an all-ages village and an age-qualified village, which combined are planned to include 7,500 homes.
Home builders are Astoria, Del Webb, D.R. Horton, Meritage, KB Home, Lennar, Pardee, Pulte and US Home. Home prices start from the high $100,000s to the high $600,000s.
In addition, a fire station opened last year and construction is under way on a library.
Nearly 430 acres are designated for recreational and public purposes including the municipal Aliante Golf Club, 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, Aviary Park and Deer Springs Park, as well as more than 20 miles of lighted trails and linear parks, and an arroyo.
About 100 acres are allocated for commercial development, including 60 acres of shopping centers and office parks, and a 40-acre resort with gaming.
An information gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed on the interstate (Las Vegas Beltway) to Aliante Parkway and go south.
