Townhomes spur Siena sales
With the recent introduction of attached homes in the Portofino Collection, sales have been strong at Siena, an age-qualified village within Summerlin. Described by Sunrise Colony Co. officials as "paired homes," the duplexes are built in four designs, ranging from 1,040 to 1,378 square feet. Prices range from $144,250 to $168,500. "We have sold more than 66 homes so far in March, 17 of those sales being the new paired homes in the Portofino Collection," sales executive Jimmy Jones said. "We have been experiencing a very strong, pent-up demand for Siena and living in a 24-hour, guard-gated secured community. Many of our sales are from people who have been waiting to see how the community would develop and now they can see it and the beautiful amenities that are offered. Siena is truly turning out to be the No. 1 premier adult community in Southern Nevada." The 665-acre community features six Italian-theme collections priced from the $140,000s to the $650,000s. The 18 single-story floor plans range from 1,040 to 3,100 square feet. Incentives are available on select homes. "On all of our golf home site sales we are offering buyers who would like to start building for a 2002 year-end closing a free golf cart," Jones said. An 18-hole, par-72, daily-fee golf course winds its way throughout the community and is open to all ages. Siena residents are given preferred rates and tee times. A 13,500-square-foot golf clubhouse is under construction, with its opening slated for this spring. Featuring views of the 18th hole and the city, the facility will include a pro shop, grill with indoor and patio dining, and a banquet room. A 15,900-square-foot fitness center features an indoor swim pavilion with a 25-meter pool, spa and views of the golf course; an outdoor pool and spa; lighted tennis and bocce courts; exercise equipment; saunas; and steam rooms. There is also a wellness center, beauty salon and day spa. The community's social center is home to a computer lab, billiard and cards rooms, and a sewing center. The facility features a full-time activities manager who organizes classes and clubs, ranging from ballroom dancing to watercolor painting. Site preparation has begun on a 36,000-square-foot community center. Construction is set to begin early this summer with completion scheduled in spring 2003. A ballroom will also house activities such as theater productions, political debates and evening entertainment. Other plans include a cyber café, business center, and arts and crafts facility. To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south to Siena Monte Avenue. The model homes are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunrise Colony Co. is also developing Red Rock Country Club in Summerlin.
