NAIOP chapter honors peers

Local commercial real estate professionals gathered last night to celebrate the sixth annual National Association of Industrial and Office Properties Spotlight Awards. More than 500 chapter members and their guests attended the event at the Four Seasons hotel, where the best local commercial projects and several industry representatives were honored.

"This is a chance for the organization to salute the best and the brightest in the Southern Nevada real estate industry. ...," said Kevin Higgins, chapter president. "It is getting more and more difficult every year to pick one winner from each category because they are all so incredible."

Three judges representing the development, design and construction industries in Southern California selected the winners.

Honor Awards were presented in six categories.

Office building, single-story: Thomas & Mack Development Group for Las Vegas Tech Center II, Building 2-D.

Office building, multi-story: American Nevada Co. for Green Valley Corporate Center, Buildings 3 and 4.

Light industrial/flex, medium scale: The Howard Hughes Corp. for Corporate Pointe 4.

Light industrial/flex, large: LaPour Partners for Diablo Commerce Center.

Build-to-suit, small: Mitch Ogron, developer, for Citibank at Siena Office Park.

Build-to-suit, medium: Metro Commercial Properties and Carpenter Sellers Architects for University Center.

Build-to-suit, large: United Construction for Southern Wine and Spirits Nevada headquarters.

Warehouse/distribution: Majestic Realty Co. for Sunset Park Business Center, Buildings 5, 6 and 7.

Public works: Clark & Sullivan Constructors for Liberty Pointe Pavilion and Multi-Generational Center.

Interiors: Marnell Architecture for the MCA Corporate Office Building.

The Best Building in the Market Award was presented to Mitch Ogron for Citibank at Siena Office Park.

Industry awards were presented to the following chapter members:

Rick Myers of Marnell Corrao Associates was named principal member of the year, Flora Jackson of Southwest Engineering was honored as associate member of the year, and Michael Newman of Colliers International received the special recognition award.

Charles W. Witters took office broker of the year, and Kevin J. Higgins won industrial broker of the year.

Firm of the year honors went to Lee & Sakahara Architects, architect; Martin-Harris Construction, general contractor; and The Keith Cos., engineer.
