Program aids residents of Las Ventanas

Las Ventanas, a life care community under construction in Summerlin, is offering charter residents free enrollment in Summerlin Hospital Medical Center's Senior Advantage program.

Member benefits include discounts on prescription drugs, vision services and select items in the hospital's gift shop; water aerobic classes; free private Medicare counseling and use of a physician referral service; and blood pressure screenings.

"The Senior Advantage program is yet another way for us to demonstrate our commitment to promoting an active, healthy lifestyle for our residents," Las Ventanas' marketing director Suzanne Caldarello said.

Membership is one of several benefits offered to charter residents of the life care community. Additionally, they receive discounts at participating Summerlin merchants, and the community's referral program offers incentives including all-expense-paid international travel packages.

Those who reserve residences during the construction phase will receive an 8 percent interest credit on their 10 percent deposit. Residents who make an additional 10 percent deposit will receive a 6 percent interest credit on those funds. Interest credits will be applied to monthly service fees after move-in.

In addition, a plan allows for 95 percent of charter residents' entrance fees to be refunded to them or their estate at any time.

Las Ventanas is being developed by Westport Senior Living, Greystone Communities, and American Baptist Homes of the West.

Upon completion, the community will feature 198 independent living apartments, six 1,500-square-foot villas, 60 private assisted-living suites and 60 private accommodations for skilled-nursing care.

The information center is located at 10000 W. Charleston Blvd., and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment.
