Commercial projects win peer recognition








Centra Point and Gibson Palms Corporate Park took "building of the year" honors last night at the eighth annual Spotlight Awards, sponsored by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. The ceremony at Caesars Palace brought together about 650 attendees from the commercial real estate industry to recognize the best projects and professionals of 2004.

Casey Jones, local chapter president, hosted the event, along with Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, and presented awards in several categories.

"As president of the fourth largest NAIOP chapter in North America, the board of directors and I would like to congratulate all of the eighth annual Spotlight Awards winners," Jones said. "These companies and individuals represent the leaders of the development industry in Las Vegas and I wish them all continued success."

Centra Point was developed by Centra Properties.

Gibson Palms Corporate Park was developed by Business Properties Group.

Honor Award winners by category, project and developer included:

Office building, single-story, small: Marnell Corporate Center MCC-6 by Marnell Properties

Office building, single-story, large: 2460 Paseo Verde Parkway at Green Valley Corporate Center South, developed by American Nevada Co.

Office building, multistory, small: 2225 Village Walk Drive in The District at Green Valley Ranch, also from American Nevada

Office building, multistory, large: Centra Point office building, developed by Centra Properties

Office building, free-standing, garden-style, small: The Park at Warm Springs by Glen, Smith & Glen Development

Industrial building/ development incubator: Gibson Palms Corporate Park, developed by Business Properties Group

Industrial building/ development distribution: Cheyenne Distribution Center by Trammell Crow Co.

Public works: Telecommu-nications Building, developed by the Community College of Southern Nevada

Interiors, office: Centra Point, developed by Centra Properties

Special purpose development: Donald W. Reynolds Girl Scout Service & Training Center, developed by the Frontier Girl Scouts

The association also presented awards to two local members: Bruce Barton of Territory Inc. received the Principal Member of the Year Award and Sallie Doebler of United Construction Co. received the Associate Member of the Year Award.

Achievement awards also went to Brad Peterson, Randy Broadhead, Darren Lemmon and Jane Cayton of CB Richard Ellis, who won Office Team of the Year; while Suzette LaGrange and Lance Robbins of CB Richard Ellis received Industrial Team of the Year.

The association also presented awards for Trendsetter Firm of the Year (American Nevada Co.), Architecture Firm of the Year (Lee & Sakahara), General Contracting Firm of the Year (Burke & Associates), Engineering Firm of the Year (GC Wallace Inc.), Brokerage Firm of the Year (CB Richard Ellis), and Development Firm of the Year (Centra Properties).

NAIOP is the trade association for developers, owners, investors and asset managers in industrial, office and related commercial real estate. Founded in 1967, it comprises nearly 11,000 members in 49 North American chapters.
